Niki Genchi





I was born in the summer of 1981, in Bari.I started taking pictures from young age when my mother gave me as a gift my first camera, it was a “Polaroid 636 close up” that i still use every now and then.By growing up i developed a great love for cinema that let me graduate in humanities with thesis in Pasolini's cinema and a diploma at the cinema academy of my home town.During this time i dedicated myself to independent filmmaking, writing screenplay, doing the direction of photography After several I films to Milan where I won a post- graduate scholarship a master of photography and visual design developed in collaboration by Naba and Forma where I obtained the highest of the grades.After that I was Giovanni Gastel's assistant for a short time. Now I work as freelance photographer based in Milan and as a teacher holding lessons for the University of Pavia, Forma and Loft.

In 2016 my photo “Nayra” has been selected for Giorgio Armani's gallery on
In 2017 my photo has been selected for ”Huawei Unique Portrait” scouting project for PhotoVogue Festival 2017 by Vogue Italia and printed in a book distributed during the festival.
In 2017 I was selected by Alessia Glaviano Photoeditor of “Vogue Italia” and “L'Uomo Vogue” for the portfolio review during the PhotoVogue Festival
In 2017 my pictures “portrait of Alice” was selected by SFMOMA (San Francisco Museum of Modern Art) and shared on their website and Instagram accaunt.
In 2019 I reached the status of Gold user on PhotoVogue
